Equal Access at UCL

At UCL, STAR is currently working towards increasing the number of scholarships offered within the Equal Access Scheme. In particular, we are working towards encouraging more foundation scholarships to be awarded to individuals who may not currently meet the academic requirements for entry into university. These are extremely important to many asylum-seekers who often need support in developing their academic potential in the English language.  This term we will be tailoring an Equal Access Scholarship video, which will provide the necessary information needed to apply for this scholarship and be successful, as well as publicizing the scholarship to make sure asylum seekers know it exists in the first place! Our main goal till now, besides working closely with the admin offices to make more scholarships available, has been to raise awareness amongst students. We had a successful Equal Access Jazz night at Phineas last term. We will be having another Jazz night with the University of London Jazz band to petition and raise money!
